At Fairways Accommodation Support Trust, our mission goes beyond providing a bed or a temporary place to stay. We believe that for real change to happen, there must be long-term, systemic solutions in both housing and the justice system.
That’s why Fairways actively participates in national conversations and policy advocacy to push for smarter, more compassionate solutions for those at risk of homelessness, reoffending, or social exclusion.
🏛️ Speaking Truth to Power
In recent years, members of the Fairways leadership team have had the opportunity to meet with key UK government officials—including the Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Chancellor, and Secretary of State for Justice. These meetings are more than photo opportunities. They are real chances to present on-the-ground experiences, data-backed insights, and the voices of people we serve every day.
We’ve shared what we see:
- That many ex-offenders are released without a plan or place to go.
- That addiction recovery often fails without safe, supportive housing.
- That reoffending costs society more than early intervention would.
📢 What We’re Advocating For
- Stable transitional housing for ex-offenders and recovering addicts
- Increased funding for supported accommodation programs
- Joined-up care between probation services, housing, and mental health providers
- Prevention-focused support, rather than emergency-only responses
We believe safer housing and smarter justice policies must go hand-in-hand. Housing someone is not enough. Supporting them is what makes the difference.
Through continued dialogue with policymakers, Fairways is committed to being a voice for reform, inclusion, and progress in the sectors we serve.
